LATEST NEWS ALERT: NEW Form I-129 Beginning Jan 17 - NO GRACE PERIOD (01/09/25)

USCIS announced it will be posting a new edition of Form I-129 Friday, Jan 17, 2025. While a preview of the new edition is available for review, the most recent published edition that must be used at present is from 4/1/24. Petitioners must use this version of the Form I-129 through January 16 but no later. (The edition date can be found in the lower left corner of each page.)

Beginning January 17 all petitions must be on the forthcoming 1/17/25 version. Note that there is no grace period and USCIS is implementing this change based on when they receive the petition, rather than a postmark date. Plan accordingly! This means a petition mailed on 1/16/25 using the 4/1/24 form will be rejected unless it arrives same-day. Better to wait for the official new version to be posted on 1/17/25 and complete that form instead.

There are new questions in Part 5 of the forthcoming edition, but they do not pertain to O or P classification petitions, so as always, items that are not pertinent may be left blank or petitioners can handwrite "N/A" to indicate a question is not applicable. New sample I-129s for O and P beneficiaries have been uploaded in the Appendix of Artists from Abroad.

Mark your calendars in advance of this change-over and be sure to start using the newest version of the I-129 beginning 1/17/25!
